Zillertal mountain road
The "Zillertaler Höhenstraße" is one of the most beautiful alpine roads in Austria. It offers a wonderful ride for every visitor up to a height of 2020 meters by car, bus or even a mountain bike. It is the starting point for numerous mountain hikes. Visit the only alpine garden of the Zillertal with a beautiful natural landscape. It will lead you to some alpine pastures and invite you to have a pleasant rest in one of the cosy mountain inns or huts.
Zillergrund
Starting point for numerous high alpine hikes and crossings. Hiking tips in the Zillergrund: through the Zillergrund from Mayrhofen to Klaushof and from Häusling to Bärenbad, from Bärenbad to the Zillergrund (1,800 m) or from Bärenbad to Plauener Hütte (2,363 m), visit the Häusling alpine guesthouse and be surprised! Alpenstraße Stausee Schlegeis
A few kilometres south from Mayrhofen - near the picturesque village of Ginzling - begins the 16 km long Alpine road. Through the Zemmtal valley you reach the fascinating high mountains of the Zillertal Alps. After the "Breitlahner" toll station, you pass through the valley of the Zams stream with pine forests, alpine flowers and waterfalls. Be impressed by the 131meters high, "double curved" and with 725 meters long dam at Schlegeis.
